SHIRLEY IS SO MAD THAT SHE IS TYPING EVERYTHING IN CAPS. SHE COULD HAVE PLAYED 15 MORE MINUTES OF FRISBEE, MADE PLANS FOR A THURSDAY AFTERNOON, GET CELINE TO STAY BACK TO WORK ON WRITING SENTENCES BUT ALL BECAUSE OF SOME IDIOT WOMEN, I COULDN’T.

This is Wednesday, one of my most liked and most hated day, all at the same time. I reached the CU on time today, and MW was there when I reached. He asked, “How are you?” or “How’s your day?” and I was speechless. Then after a few sentences, I began to cry. It was not really work that exasperated me. It was the struggle between godliness and the flesh that hurt the most. The desire to dig a hole and live in isolation as a misanthrope is ungodly, and I hate those thoughts, yet at the same time I can’t muster up enough courage to love as Jesus loves.

I thought when the church saga is resolved, things will become better, however, it’s one thing after another, isn’t it?

I can live life with hope because of Jesus and therefore I must live life in the likeness of Christ.

Cheryl, the pastor’s wife, came to talk to me today after service. She invited me to her house for some church CNY gathering. I didn’t want to because having stood around at untee B’s house during the CNY lunch AND at the wake, I knew I wouldn’t fit in no matter how hard I try. I actually came up with some stupid, unbelievable excuse. Sigh.

I had a talk with William yesterday. He had to lead in cell and we couldn’t continue the conversation. (During the course of the conversation, I texted MW and WY with “… I’ll fill you in on details if you’d like when I next see you” I felt like I needed closure, so when MW invited me to his house for supper, I gladly took it up. I was so disoriented as I made my way to his house that I sat for 10 minutes at the wrong bus-stop. I was there around 10ish, his cell was still there, so I prayed with LS and two other very lovely ladies. After which, we chatted a bit and I thought I should get out by 11ish because I don’t want to keep LS up. She looked really tired and I really wanted her to not feel the need to entertain me just because I was emm-ing. But when MW brought out two blocks of cheese and a loaf of bread, I was like, “Are you going to finish all that?”, to which he replied, “I have reinforcement.” BL came in a while and I was amused. I would never have imagined talking to BL. But we did. Till 2ish, and I shamelessly asked for a ride home, to which he obliged. I had a lot of wine then. I think it made everything look better. Haha.

Talked through many things which had been thought through, learnt that I needed to do somethings that I thought I could avoid by having slowly faded off in the last year.

It is not a hasty decision, I must repeat. It’s a decision which I realise I had thought for an entire year. And ran away from it for an entire year. I cried last year, 31 March, when I asked MW how it felt when he and LS left ARPC. It can’t be a hasty decision.

I am going to try to talk to the pastor who wears the same clothes every Sunday tomorrow.

An emm post that made Shirley smile

I was walking along the Singapore River and thinking how I have missed doing that when I saw some people holding their blindfolded friends, probably with the intention of giving them a surprise. I was a little sad when I realise I don’t have friends who would do that for me.

I was sad for a little while, maybe about five steps of walking when I thought of the friends I have.

I have a friend who would die for me and have actually died for me (Jesus).

I have a friend who I can rant to even if we are in different time zones (Ian), a friend who would pray for me and with me (WY), friends who would have me at their house for dinner (the Wangs and Timin), a friend who I have decided that I love her enough to travel with her and stay up to talk till 4am (bee) and there are, of course, Juan and Rach.

Not forgetting my family (extended and immediate).

I thought about them and I started smiling again.

Thank you Lord!

Joah & Aunty Shirley

I asked to borrow Joah’s Playmobil toys. M brought them to CU today and told me he asked Joah before bringing them to me.

M: (holding up the toys) Can you lend Aunty Shirley your toys?
J: Yes.
M: They are your favourite toys!
J: (thought for a while) Yes!

Yayy! That’s so pleasant right? I am going to bring my Polaroid camera and take a picture of him with his toys on Sunday!

This incident reminded me of the time when K asked Joah in church.

S: (pointing to me) Joah, do you know this jie jie?
Me: Err.. Aunty, not jie jie.
J: Aunty Shirley!

S: What is she like?
J: (whispering into S’s ear) She likes us (referring to Zeph and him)

Yups. I like Joah very much!
